The double passive radiator, found on Shape monitors in particular, offers an ingenious solution to the problem of proximity monitors: combining compactness, extended bass frequency response and easy positioning.
Indeed, where the venting system reaches its integration limit (need for a vent long enough to match its surface), the passive radiator is the ideal solution. However, asymmetrical oscillation (rocking mode) can occur as a function of frequency and sound level. To overcome this phenomenon, two half-roll surrounds, positioned in "mirror" mode, join the passive disk and the salad bowl, ensuring total symmetry between excursion and incursion. Finally, the very low tuning frequency allows the monitors to be positioned very close to a sound barrier.
