The inverted dome tweeter with "M" profile

OBJECTIVE: REDUCE DIRECTIONALITY AND DISTORTION

Focal has updated its famous inverted dome tweeter with two significant mechanical advances: a new "M"-shaped dome, and a new surround, like the tweeter used on the SM6 and SM9.

THE INVERTED DOME'S "M" SHAPE BRINGS TWO DECISIVE ADVANTAGES

  1. Directionality is even lower than that of the inverted dome tweeter, for an even more flexible listening position.
  2. Mechanically speaking, the "M" shape also brings a significant gain in dome rigidity, further reducing distortion.

At the same time, the Poron® surround has the effect of sharply linearizing the response curve below 6 kHz, favoring coupling to the woofer.

The magnet construction has also been optimized, with the use of a Kapton®-supported coil to greatly reduce eddy currents and, by extension, distortion.

Last but not least, the horn housing the tweeter has been designed to offer the same horizontal and vertical directionality.
