The TNF Tweeter

The brand's signature inverted dome tweeter has been constantly evolving since its inception. Its main advantage, apart from its very low directionality, lies in the use of a small-diameter (and therefore very light) coil coupled directly to the rigid dome.

As with the bass and midrange driver diaphragms, Focal's specificity lies in working directly on sound emission, and therefore on the mechanical characteristics of the materials. With the introduction of the pure Beryllium inverted dome tweeter some ten years ago, Focal demonstrated the decisive advantage of this exclusive technology.

PORON SURROUND FOR SILKY TREBLE

For the TNF tweeter, Focal has made two major changes to the aluminum/magnesium tweeter. The surround that connects the dome to its support uses Poron, a shape-memory material. This surround is directly derived from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter, and reduces distortion by a factor of three between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, where the ear is most sensitive.

OPTIMIZED SPATIALIZATION

In order to perfect spatialization and further improve the inverted dome's very low directionality, far superior to that of the competition's conventional positive dome, a waveguide has been developed. In the horizontal plane, the frequency response is within +/- 0.5 dB. This performance guarantees an incredibly stable soundstage, less critical of the ideal listening position.

Achieving such precision on a component as delicate as a tweeter has only been possible thanks to more than twenty years' hard work to improve our industrial processes. Controlling production is the only way to continue innovating in the loudspeaker field...
