Thanks to its unparalleled rigidity, Beryllium is a material of choice for a high-frequency speaker. Developed and patented by Focal, the inverted dome in pure Beryllium is capable of covering more than five octaves (1,000 - 40,000 Hz) for perfect perception of sound micro-details.

The cone, the central element of a loudspeaker, is at the heart of our engineers' research. For loudspeakers used outdoors, it was necessary to design a cone that was as efficient in terms of sound as it was resistant to its environment. The result was the Fiber IP cone, a sandwich cone made of non-woven fiberglass. The sandwich layers increase damping and offer greater versatility. For even greater durability, this cone is IP65 certified, an international standard attesting to its waterproofness and resistance to dust intrusion.

Specialists in speaker and tweeter cones, our acoustic engineers work as much on the materials as on the cone shapes. This is what they did with the famous inverted dome tweeter, which they developed, notably by proposing a new "M" shape that brings two decisive advantages: an even lower sound directivity, for an ever more flexible listening position, and a significant increase in rigidity for the dome, which further reduces distortion and thus allows for quality sound.
