Exclusive to Focal, made in France, the Slatefiber cone is made of recycled carbon fibers and thermoplastic polymer. In pursuit of perfection and specialists in speaker cones, our engineers have chosen to use non-woven carbon fibers oriented in the same direction to achieve even greater rigidity, damping, and lightness, the "essentials" of a good speaker. Recognized for its reproduction of dynamic, rich, and balanced sound, this cone has proven itself on numerous products for the home, for professionals in recording studios, and also for listening in cars.

The shape and materials of the diaphragms are essential. For extremely refined treble, our engineers patented the inverted‑dome tweeter, a Focal signature. Shaping an inverted dome offers the advantage of low directivity and a small‑diameter voice coil, which makes it very light for improved acceleration. The materials also help bring together the key elements of a good loudspeaker: aluminum increases the rigidity of the dome and reduces distortion, while the addition of magnesium provides excellent damping.
