It all starts with the humble act of choosing.
Selecting capiz shells one by one according to shade, thickness and iridescence. Sorting them, understanding them, almost listening to them. Never uniform, capiz is a rare, precious, uncompromising material which imposes its own rhythm and uniqueness on those who work with it.
Then it is time for cutting, adjusting and positioning it. Creating a balanced, harmonious, elegant surface... without ever betraying the shape of the shell.
PATIENCE, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, PRECISION
Each capiz shell is laid individually, like a precious piece of mosaic. Glued one by one, adjusted one by one. A composition slowly shaped, row after row, until it becomes a veritable surface of light. Next comes the delicate, colourless satin varnish, which fixes the material without subduing its glow. Then, it’s time for one last look, a final aesthetic inspection, almost a ritual of respect for all the work carried out.
