Manufactured by Focal, the inverted dome tweeter has been a signature since 1981. It offers the property of being a true micro loudspeaker. The curvature of the dome is significantly less pronounced than that of positive domes. This allows for better spatial dispersion and offers very low directivity, unlike ribbon tweeters. The inverted dome tweeter therefore generates unrivaled dynamics. In addition to the dome shapes, our engineers work on the materials. Here they chose aluminum, which increases the rigidity of the dome and reduces distortion. And to perfect the spatialization of the sound, a waveguide was developed. In the horizontal plane, the frequency response is within a deviation of +/- 0.5 dB. This performance guarantees an incredibly stable soundstage.

The centerpiece of a loudspeaker, the cone is at the heart of our acoustic engineers' research. After more than five years of research and development, Focal unveiled an exclusive cone made of flax in 2013. This patented Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high-quality French flax fiber placed between two thin sheets of fiberglass. It meets all the criteria of a high-fidelity cone: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass, and damping to deliver a neutral, natural sound, without coloration. It is an iconic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products.
